Iron Workers Memorial Day – June 17

Iron Workers Memorial Day is a day to remember the 19 ironworkers who died in a bridge collapse on June 17, 1958, during the construction of the Second Narrows Bridge in Vancouver. The bridge was later renamed the “Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing” in their honour.

CEU Annual General Meeting – October

Labour Community Holiday Dinner – December

Each year lower mainland unions come together to celebrate the holidays by sharing with those in need. Over 2,000 people and families take part in this annual tradition. 

National Day of Remembrance & Action on Violence Against Women – December 6

The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women commemorates the 14 women murdered at L’École Polytechnique in Montreal on Dec. 6, 1989. Remembering this horrific event has become the basis of recognizing and supporting action against widespread violence committed against women in our society.
