Constitutional Referendum Results
Proposed amendments to CEU’s Constitution & Bylaws recently went before the Membership for consideration and approval.  The voting period closed at 4:30 pm on November 29th.  The results of the vote were as follows:
  • 729 (23.7%) Members participated
  • 467 (70.7%) voted Yes
  • 194 (29.3%) voted No
  • 68 (9.3%) Abstained
The CEU Constitution & Bylaws require amendments to receive 2/3 approval from those who vote.  As such, the Constitutional amendments passed with 70.7% support of those who voted.  The amendments are effective retroactively to January 1, 2024.  We will post the newly amended version of the CEU Constitution & Bylaws on the CEU Website as soon as it has printed.

An election to fill four (4) Members At Large positions on the CEU Negotiation Committee is open until 4:30 PM December 17th, 2024

On December 9th, at 8:30 AM the election for 4 Members At Large opened and a link to the electronic ballot was sent automatically to all CEU members.  It came to our attention that the instructions stated that 10 Director candidates were up for election. This was an error on the instruction page which in no way affected the election of 4 Members at Large or the voting integrity. The instruction page has been corrected to state the election is for candidates seeking one of the 4 Members At Large positions on the CEU Negotiation Committee. This election is open until 4:30 PM December 17th, 2025.

WHAT'S NEW

A Message From Our President

Hello CEU Members,

Last year was a busy year!

One of the greatest challenges we faced was the extreme weather conditions, including intense wildfires which again affected many of our Members, directly and indirectly. Another ongoing challenge has been heavy workload demands on our Members, and the associated Mental Health consequences.  During the past year, you have demonstrated great resiliency and commitment, despite the environmental and systemic barriers that you’ve encountered.

One of the greatest changes in the work environment continues to be work at home. Nearly 95% of you continued to work from home in 2023 and we’ve heard that this is viewed as a cherished benefit. Working from home presented a few challenges but seems to be a more comfortable model now that language has been negotiated in the Collective Agreement.
